Year of Action Laudato si'

Terra Mater, our Mother Earth, is the most fascinating and ingenious expression of the beauty of our creation. Ignorance and neglect of the last decades, however, have put our world in a threatening skew. The events and findings of the previous year have shown us one thing above all: there is much to be done! "The vocation to be protectors of God's work is for us Christians neither something optional, nor a secondary aspect of the Christian experience," Pope Francis reminds us [cf. LS 217]. As Christian people, we are not just passengers on the road to the future. We are called to help determine the direction.

The Laudato si' Year of Action continues this year with a series of events designed to encourage and enable us to take the helm and actively and effectively initiate a socio-ecological transformation. Action and contemplation characterize this series of events in a balanced relationship and accompany us through the first half of the year and up to a solemn conclusion at the end of the Creation Season (September 1 to October 4). The events will take place in Baden near Vienna. Precisely because it is the goal of CHRISTIANS FOR FUTURE that this program should also be implemented by other communities in the coming years, participants who do not come from Baden are very welcome.

Centering Prayer - praying with the earth

Contemplation and lived creation spirituality. At the center of the work of CHRISTIANS FOR FUTURE is a grounded, contemplative spirituality. With this event we create a space for a simple, uncomplicated and above all Christian-elemental spirituality. Among other things, we will look at the tradition of the Desert Fathers and its significance for being a Christian today. After an introduction to the prayer of gathering (Centering Prayer), we will (weather permitting, in the garden) immediately put into practice what we have learned in the context of a common Christian meditation.

When: Tuesday, June 6, 2023, 7:00 p.m. (until approximately 8:30 p.m., after which there will be an opportunity to participate in a Christian meditation).

Where: St. Josef parish hall, Leesdorfer Hauptstraße 74, 2500 Baden
